Turkish Star  
Turkish WWII  Medals/Badges Turkish Star A medal issued to the Turkish (and their Allies). Sometimes referred to as the Gallipoli Star, as many Turkish defenders of the Gallipoli Peninsular were awarded this medal.

The medal was issued to Officers, and usually in a better quality production, and to the other ranks. The ordinary man's medal was a poor representation , and was often only painted red. The better quality medal, shown here is enamelled, and appears to be made in Germany
The five pointed star has a large up-turned crescent moon, a symbol of the religious faith of the Turkish Empire, the large design in the centre is the seal or signature of the ruling Turkish Sultan or Emperor. The smaller round symbol is another seal or signature, but of the Minister of War. The smaller rectangular bar has numbers representing the year.
