Most Boer War bandoliers of the type you have described were marked with an impressed stamp. This stamp usually stated the name of the company that manufactured the item, and a date of manufacture. I recall that most have been stamped into the leather near the buckle, I do not recall seeing an ink stamp on the inside, although it is entirely possible. I have seen writing there, usually in ink or an indelible pencil, and it is usually the persons name, and sometimes a unit name, but not often.
